Philosophy of Education

Philosophy of Education explores various themes and settings in modern education today. During the course three books were read and discussed in blog and essay form.

  • Grown Up Digital by Don Tapscott discusses the recent innovations in technology and how those innovations will shift educational pedagogy and practices going forward.
  • The Children in Room E-4 by Susan Eaton is a non-fiction book based on Hartford, Connecticut School District’s trials and successes.
  • The Passionate Teacher by Robert Fried is a though-provoking book that provides a unique look at best-practices from all over the country.

The culmination of the semester-long course was the simulation of a Professional Learning Community in which a fictitious school was created and a plan for improvement was implemented. Click on the link below to view the improvement plan.
